About the Journal

Field of Pediatric critical care has grown rapidly in past ten years in India as well as surrounding asian countries. For many years it was felt that since critically ill children in this part of the world have unique issues related to nutritional issues, disease patterns , severity of illness and resource limitations ,a scientific journal dedicated to field of pediatric critical care is needed. IAP intensive care chapter had started the publication entitled”Intensivist” as a regular publication featuring articles, case reports, chapter news and events for the members at large.IAP Intensive care chapter took up this project to next level:launch of Journal of Pediatric critical care…a peer reviewed journal under the leadership of Founder Editor in Chief Praveen Khilnani with an entire team of Editorial board. This is a quarterly publication by IAP intensive care chapter..

From the Editors Desk

July September 2016 issue of the journal of pediatric critical care is now published and available on line. Editorial team would like to share a good news that “Journal of Pediatric critical care” is now indexed with“Index Copernicus”.

High light of this issue is a special Symposium “Simulation in neonatal and Pediatric critical care and emergencies” edited by Dr Rakshay Shetty and Dr Praveen khilnani where in simulation experts from different parts of the world (Japan, India, Dubai, New zealand and USA) have shared their views on different aspects of simulation: Application of simulation in PALS, Emergency room, Pediatric critical care unit, neonatology have been emphasized (If aviation could do it, health care can too). Debriefing process and planning a simulation session have been well emphasized. Editorial team hopes that this symposium will initiate this relatively new methodology into making the practical experience of learning neonatal and pediatric emergencies as well as intensive care a new reality in this part of the world.

Amongst other highlights includes an original article from Lotus childrens hospital, Hyderabad by Prasad et al “External Jugular Venous Access in Children: A low cost and feasible route for Emergency Fluid Resuscitation and Inotropic Therapy in Resource Poor Clinical Settings” and a special review on the Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis from Cornell university, New york (Ahmed Hamed et al) USA. Additionally Very interesting and rare case reports, latest in literature (journal scan) as well as PICU Quiz are hoped to be thought provoking educational resource.

Happy reading !
